Job Title
Warehouse Team Member - Billy Hyde Music
Location
Melbourne or Perth
Employment Type
Melbourne: Casual, 1-3 days per week. Perth: Full Time or Casual for the right applicant.

Billy Hyde Music is one of Australia's leading musical instrument retailers, helping musicians, educators, studios, schools and enthusiasts access the world's leading musical instrument brands.

We are looking for great people to join our warehouse teams in Melbourne and Perth. This is a practical, hands-on role supporting the flow of stock through the business, from receiving supplier deliveries to dispatching customer orders and keeping inventory sharp.

Position purpose

The Warehouse Team Member helps keep the Billy Hyde Music engine room humming. You will receive stock, process stock movements, pick and pack orders, dispatch products, and maintain a high level of stock management and warehouse organisation.

This role is ideal for someone reliable, active, organised and detail-focused. Music knowledge is highly regarded, especially if you know your way around instruments, accessories, drums, audio gear or stage equipment.

For Melbourne, this casual role is perfect for a musician, university student or someone looking for 1-3 days per week. For Perth, we are open to Full Time or Casual depending on the right applicant.

Receiving Stock

  • Receive incoming stock from suppliers and internal transfers.
  • Check deliveries carefully and keep stock records accurate.
  • Unpack, label, sort and place products into the correct warehouse locations.
  • Handle musical instruments, audio gear, drums, accessories and equipment with care.
  • Help keep the warehouse organised, safe and ready for action.

Dispatching Orders

  • Pick, pack and dispatch customer orders accurately and efficiently.
  • Prepare store transfers and customer deliveries for transport.
  • Package products carefully so they arrive looking stage-ready, not tour-bus battered.
  • Work with store, sales and warehouse teams to keep orders moving.
  • Support daily dispatch deadlines and freight processes.

Stock Management

  • Maintain a high level of stock accuracy and warehouse presentation.
  • Process stock movements, transfers and adjustments as required.
  • Assist with stock counts, cycle counts and general inventory control.
  • Identify stock issues early and communicate clearly with the team.
  • Treat every barcode, carton and shelf location like it matters, because it does.

About you

You are practical, reliable and enjoy getting stuck into the day. You like things in the right place, orders packed correctly, and stock records that do not look like they were written during a drum solo.

You might be a musician, a student, someone with warehouse experience, or simply someone with the right attitude who wants to work around musical gear every day.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Reliable, punctual and ready to get involved.
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in doing things properly.
  • Comfortable working in a hands-on warehouse environment.
  • Able to safely lift, move and handle stock as part of the role.
  • Good communication skills and a positive team attitude.
  • Basic computer skills and willingness to learn stock systems.
  • Available to work the required days or roster for the location.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • An interest in music, musical instruments or live sound.
  • Previous warehouse, retail stockroom, dispatch, freight or inventory experience.
  • Experience with stock management systems, scanners or order processing.
  • Forklift licence or manual handling experience.
  • Music retail experience, band gear knowledge, or a healthy respect for drum hardware.

Personal Attributes

  • Organised and practical.
  • Energetic and team focused.
  • Calm under pressure when the courier clock is ticking.
  • Careful with customer orders and valuable instruments.
  • Happy to learn, ask questions and improve systems.
  • A person who enjoys keeping things moving.

What We Offer

  • Work with one of Australia's most recognised music retailers.
  • Be surrounded by guitars, drums, keys, amps, PA gear and music people every day.
  • Friendly team environment with real variety in the work.
  • Staff purchasing benefits.
  • Training on our warehouse processes and systems.
  • A role that suits practical people who like music and movement.
